Today
The Bean Bandits Racing Team today is the same as it was when
Joaquin started the club. A group of friends who share a common
interest in the highest form of hot rodding, racing. One distinctive
difference however, the Bandits today race several vehicles in
various classes. Regardless of the separate camps of racing we all
unite under one team, the Bean Bandits Racing Team.
Currently Julio "Lefty" Hernandez, after several years of success
running his modified roadster. He has put Dan Waldrop in charge
of the running of the 131 car. Julio has continued his passion for
building race cars to his new project belly tank. His belly tank
while still being built has had it's first shakedown run at
Bonneville Speed Week 08' and El Mirage. Julio in his style is
looking to make the take adaptable to fit several engine classes to
break many records.
Fabian "Vintage Hammer" Valdez took a year away from racing
his own car to pay homage to team founder Joaquin Arnett and
the rest of the old time Bean Bandit Club reconstructed one of
Joaquin's famed streamliners. Fabian and Team payed respect in
the highest form in breaking the record for the streamlined class
we raced with 3 old time Bandits in attendance and support at
Bonneville Speed Week 08'. Fabian is now focused on building a
new rear engine roadster. A class for which he held multiple
records in. This time around Fabian looks to make this new rear
engine roadster multi adaptable to several body and engine
classes. Surely the combination of Fabian's car building and Tom
Branch's engine building records will be earned.
Jake Doomey continues to try to find the best combination to
break the record in his Flathead run F100 that he has come so
close to. Jakes attitude and determination will get him there.
Once achieved Jake plans to go forward with a new car and
challenge.
To be continued with the drag racing of Diana Branch and
Derby Pattengill. The focused accomplishments of Dan Waldrop
working with Russ Eyres, land speed record holder. Check back
soon...
